It has a good maintenance record at 238,000 miles but now my windshield wipers stay on when I try to turn them off.  It becomes an annoyance to keep having to turn the car off to get them to stop.  Otherwise it has really been a solid and reliable car.

Pros: Good performance, small routine repairs, great looking, and fun to drive
Cons: electrical problems now- windshield wipers won't turn off when activated

I've had my car for a year and a half and its been
good. No trouble with the engine except two
crankcase seals. I've had the clutch and slave
cylinder replaced though, mainly because of a lot of
burn outs after I learned how to drive stick. Haha. It
gets good mileage and is a smooth and stable
drive, although body roll is quite evident at off-
ramp speeds of 50+, also at over 100 i can feel the
up-force from the relatively high ground clearance
of the front end. Lowering springs and front
bumper lip recommended.

Pros: Slight understeer when pushed to its limit, but with the possibility to get the back end out.
Cons: Underpowered, and no significant gains can be had cheaply and easily.

I purchased 5 speed manual '95 BMW 318i back in 1995 out of sheer necessity. I had just blown the engine to my '88 Toyota Supra Turbo for the 2nd time (broken rod) one evening, and because my job requires that I travel extensively throughout the Southern California area, I needed a car right away and I didn't feel like car shopping. So the next morning, I went to New Century BMW in Alhambra, CA and purchased the 318i immediately. It took less than 30 minutes to negotiate a deal.

Pros: tooo fast
Cons: to expinsive

Not very fast in a straight but amazing in the corners and fun in the snow when you have an LSD. Doesn't get as much mileage as I hoped, roughly 30mpg.  The stock "pseudo" leather suede seats are not very comfortable.

Pros: handles great
Cons: slow.

Pros: a great all round car
Cons: cost of parts repairs and running costs

It's reliable, tough, and easy to work on. But it's slow, the windows always come off track, and the temperature control cable has a weak connection. The car is fun to drive with the rear wheel drive and light weight. It gets about 30 mpg on the highway. Repairs are relatively expensive because it is a bmw but if you get a 1995 the engine is more reliable than the 96-99. I have had no major mechanical failures on my 318ti despite hard driving on a regular basis.

Pros: Fun to drive and fuel efficient.
Cons: Slow and some minor but annoying problems.

The car is a little slow, but where it lacks acceleration it makes up for it in its handling.  Great on the s curves.  I didn't pay too much for it and I haven't put too much into it.  It gets fantastic mileage and is great to drive.  It hasn't needed too many repairs, just the basic maintenance.

Pros: looks, handling
Cons: acceleration
