1994 Honda Civic del Sol Reviews
| “My Car” Reviewing:
1994 Used Honda Civic del Sol 2 Dr S Coupe
It has a 1.6 SOHC vtech, DC header into 2 1/4 inch exhuast into an aftermarket muffler (4 in.) I bought the car for $3,000 and think it was worth every dollar. It is a great car to drive and isnt the slowest. the body for the most part is good except for where this lady side swiped the car.
Pros —
Engine, Exhaust
Cons —
Body

1994 Used Honda Civic del Sol 2 Dr Si Coupe
performance is pretty amazing for only 130hp at the crank, I have ground contro sleeves and gas shocks so the cornering is great as well and 4 wheel disc brakes for really short stopping distance.
Pros —
honda, MPG, fun fun fun fun.
Cons —
cost of de-Ricification

| “Hey, Man, Isn't That A Girl's Car?”
Beyond solid. After owning it 11 years and 140,000 miles, I have trouble remembering if I have even repaired anything on this vehicle...I may have replaced the alternator, but I think that was on one of my other Hondas. It could use a recharge on the AC, too, but I think that's normal for a 14 year-old second owner car. With the DOHC it is like a go cart, this little rocket surprises people all the time--my favorites to surprise are the Firebirds! I accelerate, they can't catch up, I take a corner and buh-bye. It's all they can do to get it up to 100 to catch me then finally blow by to try to make their point, a little too late; meanwhile I've put the car back on cruise control and changed CDs.
Pros —
Reliability, performance
Cons —
FWD

| “My First Car” Reviewing:
1994 Used Honda Civic del Sol 2 Dr Si Coupe
Yeah, it's a chick's car, but I loved it's looks, it's faux-convertible abilities, and it's misery way of handling gasoline.
Pros —
Riding topless through the valley, problem free for 60k miles
Cons —
Only one hottie at a time could ride with me.

| “This Car May Look Outlandish, But It's A Civic Through And Through.” Reviewing:
1994 Used Honda Civic del Sol 2 Dr Si Coupe
The Del Sol was released in 1992 as the successor to the CR-X. I purchased mine in August 2003. I've put on about 20,000 miles, and nothing major has gone wrong with it, other than people crashing into it. Performance-wise, the previous owner put in a loud air filter which theoretically adds half a brake horsepower, but I don't see it. It's got VTEC, so the high revs are pretty exciting, but it's not as light as it looks. It can get from 0 to 60 in somewhere around 8-9 seconds, so it's not lighting any pavement on fire. However, that doesn't really matter. This car is fun to drive. It's low-slung for a Civic, it's got independent rear suspension, and takes bends with joy. Throwing this car around corners is a blast. Don't dare get this car with an automatic transmission. Despite the sporty costumery, this is still a Civic. Fuel economy is superb, the engine is due for another 100,000 miles, and the D16 engine used in this car remained in service with Honda Civics until the 2006 model year. It's got a spacious trunk as well, so this car serves well as a daily driver, just like the Civic. The looks have held up pretty well over time, the only awkward 90's bits are on the front end, especially the headlights, but overall pretty nice design from Honda.
Pros —
Fuel Economy
Absolute Joy to drive Looks nice for a car from the 90's
Cons —
Targa roof can sometimes leak
Dated front end Won't satisfy backwards-hatted import tuners without a $1,700 turbocharger or $5000+ Integra B18 swap

homemade turbo set-up (16g @ 10psi), stock d16z6 (for now), cheap suspension (slammed), hawk HP+ pads, fresh milano red paint with shaved emblems and side reflectors, etc. Targa top is awesome for the summer
Pros —
quick, cheap, looks good, targa
Cons —
fwd, leaks oil

| “It's Really, Really, Really Nice!” Reviewing:
1994 Used Honda Civic del Sol 2 Dr VTEC Coupe
A 1.6 with 158bhp, 8'000 revs. Can't go wrong really. Goes like a rocket, hold on to your hat when the vtec kicks in at 5'500 revs.
Pros —
Awesome performance, engine still solid after 110'000 miles.
It's a Honda.
Cons —
Roof and boot leak
Tiny rust patches on the rear wheel arches |
