2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Reviews
“America's Truck”
nothing but raw disel power!!!
“Not So Heavy-duty, But Great So Far”
After 22 years and five wonderful Ford Powerstrokes I was forced to abandon the Ford when
their diesel program fell apart. My new "HD" Chevy is MUCH lighter than it's Ford twin, from
overall weight to suspension components, but we're really enjoying it. The quiet, tractable,
Duramax has HUGE power and decent fuel economy. It's a joy to tow with, and the cab and
creature comforts are best in class. I love the stereo system and nav too - it's great for a
factory system, though it could use new speakers.
“Plastic Bumpers In Front, Weak Rear Bumper”
The truck was in reverse at very slow speed (2 to 3 miles per hour) and struck a parked car (Buick) at the end part of the rear passenger door. The damage to the truck's chrome bumper was minimal, but the bumper pushed into the body causing the bed to buckle over the wheel well and the vertical upright of the bed was pushed in rendering the tailgate inoperative. A real piece of junk for structural strength. Would never buy this truck again. Cannot compare to the strength of a Ford heavy duty truck.
Chevrolet has really got this one right Strong Duramax Diesel with tons of power, backed up by the strong Allison Transmission. This is a pickup that works hard in style. We live in an area that gets plenty of bugs in the summer and freezing rain in the winter. The heated winshield wiper fluid is great for both.
The truck rides like a Suburban and holds to the road much better than previous fords. The new design is sleek yet rugged.
“It Will Not Perform Towing A 10,000 Lb 5th Wheel Trailer”
The truck in tow/haul mode will not shift past 4th gear. It makes no difference what
speed you run. In manual it will work properly (great) for a 100 miles or so,It has
extremely good power and operates with good gas milage. Then it will not shift into
6th gear unless you lift the accelertor, when you push the acelerator again it will shift
back to 5th gear. It has limited power and uses much more gas.
I have taken it to the dealer twice and they say it is fine because no light comes on to
indicate trouble. I have pulled a trailer 4,000 miles and burned 27 tanks of gas.
Three times it got 10 miles to gallon, then it was 6-8 mpg. Same driver the entire
time over variety of highways.
