This should be a bigger success We spent a long weekend with a new (<1600 miles) Five Hundred rental from Enterprise. The car is quiet, comfortable, roomy ... and on a very cold Pittsburgh weekend, averaged about 21 mpg. The engine had decent punch, and the handling overall was crisp--not the sport feel I'm used to in my Mazda6, but not soft & sloppy, either. Hopefully, with the rebadging of this vehicle as a Taurus, and a more eye-catching look, it will get more attention. It deserves it.

2007 Ford Five Hundred SEL AWD: Great fuel economy, safe, reliable, roomy car I have the AWD CVT version of this car. Both are wonderful. The car, if driven at 65 mph , will get 30 mpg reliably and up to 34 mpg with a good tailwind. It averages 25 to 26 mpg in mixed city/highway driving.
For a big car that is remarkable. The brakes are excellent, outboard visibility is superior. I think the simple lines are attractive and appreciate the excellent safety cage and multiple airbags.
The AWD with traction control has proved already to be very good in both heavy rain and heavy snow. The steering is not as tight as I would like but is predictable and acceptable. No complaints and I have gotten lots of compliments.

Great car I just bought a 2007 Limited 500 and it is by far the nicest car I have ever owned.  It runs great, is super quiet, and has every feature I could want.  The only knock people have on the car is the engine size, which is not a factor unless you are an 18 year old looking for a hot rod.
