| “Nice Body Style, Easy To Maintain, Seems To Last Forever” Reviewing:
1991 Used Pontiac Bonneville 4 Dr SSE Sedan
I inherited this dark blue SSE with light gray cloth interior from my mother, whom I helped pick out when new. Now it's my daily driver and at 17 years old it's only at 140K miles on the odometer. Looks almost new on the outside and the cloth inside too! Only the headliner is decomposing. Has had some parts replaced in its life but nothing major. Has suffered from an odd electrical problem since new, which is its lack of ability to charge the battery when idling in very slow traffic. I've been stuck on the freeway because of some accident and the battery voltage, with lights dimming, dropped to the point where I was afraid the engine would just shut down. I wonder if this is a common problem. All the shops I took it to said it was up to specs. This car has gone through 5 alternators and more than that in batteries in 17 years! Other than that, it's great! I drive it sometimes for long distances reliably. Has great stopping power even though only the front has disk brakes, nice handling for a larger car, decent acceleration and very stable at very high speeds. Having nice tires on it helps; no need to replace the very nice-looking original Aero wheels. I get an average 23 mpg in this car, which keeps me from wanting to replace it with something new as the new cars don't get better mileage! Other little problems: paint on the outside plastic parts has gone flat, but shines up somewhat with some wax. Back light lenses have delaminated and look ugly (common problem). In general I'm happy with this car and will drive it until that overly big repair bill makes me junk it! Here's to a classic Bonneville!
Pros —
Power, good mileage, great looks
Cons —
weird electrical problem, back lenses delaminating

| “Front Wheel Drive Boat.” Reviewing:
1991 Used Pontiac Bonneville 4 Dr SE Sedan
Diehard car. Loads of leg room, and seating with a 3 body trunk. Fair amount of room to work on. Had descent accel for its size. Great winter car just couldnt take a wet corner fast too much body role.
Pros —
Engine never stopped. 460,000kms before the tranny gave but the engine was still beating.
Cons —
Had the handling of a big car.

| “Good Solid Car” Reviewing:
1991 Used Pontiac Bonneville 4 Dr LE Sedan
I currently own a 1991 Bonneville LE. Paid $1000 cash for it after my old car bit the dust. Good, solid car. I owned an 89 Bonneville LE a handful of years ago and hated to give it up. Everything on my car works, except the windows when they are rolled down all the way (bitch of a time getting them back up!). Mine has just over 96,000 miles on it and I have kept up maintainence on it. Bonnevilles are great cars that keep going.
Pros —
Easy start, great get-up-and-go
Cons —
Windows on mine are difficult to roll up or down (window motor problems)

| “Ok When It Was New” Reviewing:
1991 Used Pontiac Bonneville 4 Dr SSE Sedan
As far as I know it was a good car when was new but my step daughter owns it and the headliner is falling down, its rusty, it has been wrecked several times, someone painted a stripe down the side. I have seen this car new and it looked great but thats all I know about it |
