2005 Used Pontiac Bonneville GXP
I was fortunate enough to buy one of the few remaining 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP's in May of 2006. Sadly, the Bonneville had been discontinued after 48 years of production and the 2005 model had been the final production run. I had fell in love with the Bonneville GXP the first time I saw one at the Auto Show but hadn't thought I would be able to budget one due to the steep window sticker. But being one of the last ones available, I was able to pick mine up for a song - as they say! And she is in the beautiful White Gold Tricoat - just like the one I saw at the Car Show - and also has every available option that could be ordered on the Bonneville GXP. It is a remarkable car in every way! It is wonderfully comfortable with plenty of room and all the conveniences one needs during their commute. It has very good power combined with performance oriented gearing that makes it a real performer that also offers outstanding handling for a sedan. And this comes from an owner who also owns a Pontiac 30th Anniversary Trans Am with 470 horsepower and a finely tuned suspension. This is my first front wheel drive vehicle, although I had driven two others that my parents had owned over the years, on a regular basis. And I was very pleased to find that with 300 ft/lbs of torque from the Northstar, torque steer, although noticeable under hard acceleration, was not an issue. The stereo is great - the guages are great - the trunk is great - oh, you get the idea! But yes, there are a couple of quirks - very small ones though. I don't see why the rear window switches don't light up like the front window switches when the lights are on and the console storage area is rather small. Also, the center section of the rear seat - where a 5th occupant would sit - is remarkably uncomfortable. Fortunately for me, I have never needed to seat someone there. But those are the only things I can speak against in the Bonneville GXP. And the car never ceases to draw the attention of onlookers who ask a myriad of questions while complimenting its good looks! |
