1995 Ford Aerostar Reviews
| “Great To Get Around In” Reviewing:
1995 Used Ford Aerostar 3 Dr XLT AWD Passenger Van Extended
i really like our van. i learned to drive with it, and its lasted longer than any of my other cars. its a bit large, and un-gainly, but its definitely built Ford tough. I really wish they'd bring it back. The inside's ok. I wish the rear seats were easier to use, since supposedly, the back bench is supposed to be able to fold flat or something, but I can't figure out how. and there could be more leg room between the benches. Other than that, i really like this work horse.
Pros —
Great for getting around and hauling, and plenty of room for family
Cons —
not enough leg room, bench seats too hard to work properly

Never should have let go of the Dodge caravan, no matter how good the price was for this Ford-badged of Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge
Pros —
price promo
Cons —

| “Good, Reliable Work Van” Reviewing:
1995 Used Ford Aerostar 3 Dr XLT Passenger Van Extended
We've had ours for a while and it still keeps on going. Only problems come from a flooded transmission courtesy of Gulf Coast hurricanes.
Pros —
Reliability, comfort, utility
Cons —
Not so cool for a college student to drive...

I've owned 2 of the longer Aerostars. Traded to an AWD in 1995 because the 2WD was useless on icy Calgary streets. It has been rock solid, leaving many SUVs in the dust since then. I have towed out my share of stuck cars (even got a 5 ton truck up a slick hill). My wife loved the passing power. It still accelerates strongly to stay ahead of the pack.
Pros —
Family carrying capacity, AWD capability, Lots of power (4.0 L)
Cons —
Gas mileage

I have owned an aerostar van for less than 2 years. The front end is shot, the back end wiggles, and the transmission is going. Just wonderful!!!!! |

I was never expecting this truck to haul people or cargo like my E-350 did, or be as plush as my Mercury...we just needed a second car for around town. The Aerostar is perfect for our purpose. It's more truck than mini van, but reasonably comfortable and seats 7, 6 comfortably. With 220,000 miles on it I can't say enough about reliability. I would buy a new one if they still made them! |
