| “Used To Love My Van Until Transmission Failed At 91,000 Miles :(” Reviewing:
2002 Used Honda Odyssey EX-L
We bought a Honda, because of its supposed reliability. We poured hundreds of dollars into keeping current on all of the regularly scheduled maintenance and took it in for the second gear transmission recall service when that notice came as well. We did all of this to avoid what We are going throug now. In spite of doing everything "right" on our part, our transmission failed at 91,000 miles...NOT what we expected from a Honda...and a $3900 repair bill. Honda WAS going to pay for all but $850 of it, but then changed their mind when they found out we bought our Odyssey from Military Car sales while serving our country overseas. We are very unhappy with Honda, and will probably never buy a Honda again.
Pros —
Back seat folds down easily for carrying cargo. Seat warmers in front are nice. Automatic side doors are handy...when they work properly.
Cons —
Automatic side doors can be temperamental. TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 91,000 miles.

| “Generally Solid, Safe & Dependable” Reviewing:
2002 Used Honda Odyssey EX-L
Our Odyssey has been very dependable and comfortable, although transmission did have recall repairs. Too bad we can't just turn off the 5th-gear overdrive sometimes, although the computer sensor does a great job of compensating shift patterns when I tow varying loads. |

Transmission broke at 75000 miles and now at 130000 miles. Sliding doors constantly break. Knobs falling apart. |

Have a 2002, 70,000 mile odyssey. Tranny gone. Dealers says I'm not in the group with extended warranty coverage. Honda Corp. says they will pay for remfg. tranny, i get to cover labor....almost $1,000 after tax. So much for paying top dollar for a top of the line vehicle. I will not buy a Honda again. I've owned two other Hondas with little problems, but the problems with the van and the attitude at the dealership and Honda Corp.......for the birds! Bad attitude all around, told me not uncommon for trannys to go at 70,000 mile and i should be happy to get anything considering I'm so far out of warranty. Isn't that nice considering they know there is a problem with these. Always had to decide between Honda and Toyota for purchases....never again. Honda made my decision easy. |
