Performance - acceleration, braking, handling = all perfect.
the twin cam engine was a gem. it liked to rev and it sounded
like a real engine when screaming at 7000 rpm.
the brakes were perfect for the weight of the car. very cheap
on petrol and other running costs.

Pros: balance....
Cons: hard to get some engine parts now

Performance – acceleration is outstanding for a 4 cylinder BMW - the M42 4 cylinder inline DOHC engine is reliable and revs up to 8k rpm with minor tweaks Build Quality is ex cellent as you would expect from a BMW Appearance is beauttifull in BMWs brilliant red and complete with the M Technics 2 aerodynamics package Fun Factor – there is no better fun ride than a e30!

Pros: e30 is the best BMW ever made
Cons: more power would be good

This e30 wagon was imported form Germany to Canada. It was originally a 318 wagon. But it was upgraded with am M42 engine from the 318is. Suspension is also lowered by 2 inches. All windows are tinted limo black. A really fast and good handling grocery getter that see time at the track too!

Pros: Handling
Cons: My e24 looks better

Four-cylinder BMWs target driving enthusiasts, who generally prefer manual shift. Because these engines come alive only at high rpm around town you can expect to shift the 5-speed frequently. Fuel mileage has averaged more than 25 mpg with the manual shift. All 3-Series BMWs shine brightest in their sporty handling characteristics. They devour twisting roads with ease, helped by sharply precise yet fluid steering. Quick turns produce more body lean than expected, but the cars feel lithe and surefooted. Though the suspension is firm, ride quality beats many cars with softer suspensions, absorbing plenty of road flaws. Brakes are potent, too. In wet or snowy weather, however, these rear drivers can get difficult to handle, as the tail slips easily sideways. Traction control is not all that effective. Despite the increased size in this generation, interior space is not much larger than in previous BMWs. Rear space is acceptable only for two small adults, and rear head room is tight in the coupe due to its slightly lower roofline. Cabins are rather austere, with a lot of hard plastic surfaces that seem inappropriate for the car's price. Lack of a tilt feature means the steering wheel sits a bit high, but analog gauges are unobstructed and radio and climate controls are close at hand. Skimpy rear door openings hinder back seat entry into sedans. The trunk floor is flat, and its opening is large. Despite high secondhand prices, 4-cylinder BMWs appeal to those who like spirited, high-revving driving enjoyment. For that purpose, they're hard to beat.

Pros: rear wheel drive loadsa back end fun!! looks great even standard
Cons: expensive for parts, needs a bigger engine than a 1.8 due to weight
