1999 Audi A4 Avant Reviews
| “Audi A4 1996” I HAD THE AUDI FOR 2 DAYS THEN REALISED THAT IT HAD A TURBO PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT FOR A COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS AND IT SAID THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW AND THE MAP SENSOR HAD PROBLEMS WHICH CAUSE THE CARS TURBO TO CUT OUT AFTER ABOUT 60 MPH WHICH ISN'T GOOD WHEN YOUR ON THE MOTORWAY TRYING TO OVERTAKE. BASICALLY THE CAR WILL BE A GOOD BUY WHEN THE TURBO ISSUES ARE RESOLVED.
Pros —
LOOKS ECONOMY
Cons —
SUSPENSION TURBO

| “Great Car” This car filled many needs for a family of four. When we owned this car it was a family car, snowboard/ski trip car, weekend open-track car and a nice car all around. The tiptronic shifter was fun to use.
Pros —
trunk/cargo space, turbo engine
Cons —
none for us

| “Excellent, Practical, Reliable German Machine” I purchased my A4 used with 140,000 miles. I have been driving it for 2 years, during which time I have driven it between collage in Idaho, Home in Colorado Springs, and my wifes home in Los Angeles, and I haven't had to fix a thing! Just routine oil changes and so forth. I chose the Avant for the roof rack, and I have a Yakima system with 2 rocky mounts bike carriers, and a Yakima ski/snowboard rack. The Quattro makes it handle excellent in the snow, and dirt for recreational transportation. The interior is bomb proof with the German simulated leather that gives it a refined and luxurious feel. I will definitely keep this car until it no longer runs! Which is looking like it will be quite a while!
Pros —
Quattro all wheel drive, Reliable 6 cylinder engine, Long roof with factory rack for transporting recreational equipment, Excellent Styling that still looks modern 10 years later (put it next to a 1999 American or Japaneses wagon and see the difference.) Durable, refined interior...
Cons —
Slightly more expensive to fix than average cars, But reliability makes up for it.
