small sporty SUV, great for off roading (4WD) or "pimping" (2WD)
This SUV is pretty good. I enjoy driving it. It is actually quite fast too. Believe it or not, i have beat a Mitsubishi Lancer once, that was cool.
Another cool thing about this truck is its ability to drift. Caution, do not try to do prolonged drifts or 90 degree turns. Remember... It is an SUV, not a sport's car.

Pros: Big engine, tough looks, fast.
Cons: When you accelerate "pedal to the metal style" you can tell your gas goodbye.

2002 Used Ford Explorer Sport 2 Dr STD 4WD SUV:
A Sportier Explorer
The Ford Explorer Sport caught my eye with its revised look for 2001. Especially with the new options that came with a 2-Door SUV including moonroof and a sound system from Pioneer with an in-dash six cd changer.
Also, after driving around the average gas mileage is shockingly 19-20 mpg.

Pros: Moonroof. Pioneer Sound System. Decent gas mileage for an SUV.
Cons: Exspensive to maintain. Very stiff suspension.
2002 Used Ford Explorer Sport 2 Dr STD 4WD SUV:
A sporty, short wheel base, 4-seater, 4x4 SUV with good looks
The Explorer Sport had great exterior styling, but (as whappens with many american cars) the interior was a bit poor, and rear seats were quite uncomfortable. It's short wheel base provided good handling but ride was quite jumpy. Great for fooling around off road.
Pros: Good looks, great off road
Cons: Rear seats were rubbish, bumpy ride

my ex sport when it was stock

Pros: none
Cons: to many
2002 Used Ford Explorer Sport 2 Dr STD 4WD SUV:
Runs great in winter, little heavy on gas, wonderful acceleration, and awesome towing capability.
Explorer Sports are surprisingly friendly vehicles that are especially popular with people who live in houses with short garages where a four-door Explorer might not fit. Explorer Sports are 180.4 inches long on a 101.8-inch wheelbase in contrast to the 113.7-inch wheelbase and 189.5-inch overall length of a four-door Explorer. Ford's compact Escape actually rides on a longer wheelbase, but is only 173 inches long. The Explorer Sport is just about the same width as an Escape, but nearly two inches narrower and three inches lower than an Explorer. Yet, despite its more compact dimensions compared to the Explorer, the driver still feels high up and fully in command.
Visibility is good except for the view over the driver's left shoulder, and it's easy to see the hood corners for guidance. Ground clearance is 6.7 inches for both 2WD and 4WD models. When properly equipped, towing capacity for a two-wheel-drive model is as high as 5,120 pounds. Twisting a knob on 4WD models permits "shift on the fly" operation.
New 16-inch cast-aluminum wheels have been installed on all 2002 models, replacing the previous 15-inchers. Otherwise, little is new except for revised content of the Comfort option group, including the addition of automatic headlights and an electrochromic rear-view mirror. A power moonroof is optional.

Pros: A lot of horsepower than previous models.
Cons: Liitle heavy on gas.
