To take full advantage of its part-time 4WD, the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE Off-Road 4WD adds a firmer suspension, larger brakes, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and performance shocks.  Along with 4-wheel ABS brakes and dual front airbags, the SE Off-Road 4WD includes a tire monitor, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, traction and stability control, and foglights.  The longer SUV now has three rows of seats, with the third row folding flat.  A roof rack and trailer hitch increase the cargo capacity, which is ranges from 16 to 79 cubic feet.  The front passenger seat also folds down.

Powered by a new 4.0-liter, 270-hp DOHC V6 and 5-speed automatic, the 2005 Pathfinder SE Off-Road 4WD features a trip computer, intermittent front and rear wipers, full power setup, a power driver's seat, leather interior trim, a CD player, cruise control, power adjustable pedals, and rear climate control.  For the passengers, you can add a DVD player, satellite radio, CD-changer with MP3 playback, heated leather seats and mirrors, a sunroof, and a power passenger seat.  Safety add-ons include automatic headlights, a garage opener, and side impact airbags for each row.  There are three nagging complaints about the 2005 Pathfinder SE Off-Road 4WD, and those are low gas mileage (15/21), a third row unfit for adults, and interior materials that show early wear and tear.  But the hauling capacity, extra horsepower, car-like handling, and versatility of space are highlights.
