2006 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE Summary
More power and a lot more features are packed into the 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE, a front-wheel drive mid-sized family sedan that's also a lot of fun to drive. The Altima is Nissan's most popular car, and the 3.5 SE comes with a 3.5-liter, 250-hp DOHC V6 under its hood, matched to a standard 5-speed manual or optional 5-speed automatic. A sportier ride comes with a stiffer fully independent suspension, and the Altima 3.5 SE features front and rear stabilizer bars and front and rear disc brakes. ABS brakes, traction control, and xenon headlights are optional. Dual front airbags earn frontal impact ratings of five stars. Side airbags for both rows are extra.
Building on the power features and cruise control of the 2.5 S, the 2006 Altima 3.5 SE adds a power driver's seat, a temperature display, wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, automatic headlights, foglights, and leather trim for the steering wheel and shifter. The 16 cubic foot trunk comes with a cargo net and can be accessed via a rear seat armrest/trunk pass-through. The rear seats also split-fold down. Heated leather seats, a sunroof, automatic climate control, a navigation system, a rear spoiler, speed-sensing windshield wipers, and a new satellite radio are attractive options. Drivers of the 2006 Altima 3.5 SE like the 21/29 fuel economy, the interior space, and the powerful engine which makes acceleration easy and fun. Too much torque steer and a poorly laid out dash are the major complaints.
