The GS is now the entry-level trim in the Eclipse lineup, with the discontinuation of the RS for 2005.  The GS is powered by the 2.4 liter inline four, which delivers 147 horsepower and 158 pound-feet of torque.  Buyers may choose between a five-speed manual transmission, or an optional four-speed automatic with a manual shifter.

The GS comes standard with full power accessories, an anti-theft system, air conditioning, a CD player,  alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, cruise control and keyless entry.  The REMIX package is also available with this trim.
