Not much is added to the 2004 Kia Rio Sedan, besides an optional rear spoiler (already optional on the Cinco wagon) and new manual driver's lumbar support.  The 2004 Rio got a makeover last year, but it still is lacking in standard features in order to keep the price down on this affordable, yet peppy subcompact.  It is fueled by a 1.6-liter, 104-hp twin-cam I4, and transmission choices range from standard 5-speed manual to 4-speed automatic.

With a 26/33 estimated fuel economy and not much standard equipment, you won't be spending a lot on the 2004 Rio.  Power disc brakes, intermittent wipers, rear defrost, and dual front airbags are standard.  A radio/CD player, air conditioning, power windows, locks, and power steering will cost you extra.  4-wheel ABS can also be substituted for the disc brakes.  A tachometer, overhead console, rear spoiler, and tilt steering wheel are also extra.  Rear seats do not fold down, so the trunk is small (9.2 cubic feet).  As consolation there are four cupholders up front, two in the center and one in each door panel.
