2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade Summary

The mid-level Liberty trim is much the same as the Sport, but it's more specifically outfitted for the trails. Just take a look at it, with its standard-equipment side-steps, fog lights, and front tow hooks, plus those tough-looking fenders.
The Renegade is powered by the same 3.7-liter, 210-horsepower V6 from which you can expect 16-17 city miles per gallon and 22 on the highway. Unlike the Limited, it was made in manual transmission as well as automatic.
Among its other standard features are air conditioning, power windows, power locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, CD player, ABS, driver and front passenger air bags, traction control, and stability control. Options for the Renegade included power sunroof, leather seats, power seats, and a navigation system.
The Liberty did well in the NHTSA's crash testing, scoring 5 stars for the Driver Front test and both Front Side and Rear Side, and 4 stars for Passenger Front. In the rollover test it scored a 3, but the active roll mitigation now standard on every Liberty should help it never to reach that point.
