2005 Hyundai Accent GLS Hatchback Summary
The hatchback version of its entry-level sedan, the 2005 Hyundai Accent GLS Hatchback offers up to 16 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down and comes with an a rear wiper to go with the already standard intermittent front one from the sedan. A 1.6-liter, 104-hp I4 sits under the hood, coupled with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive hatch rides on small 13-inch wheels and earns 4-star front and side crash ratings thanks to dual front-side airbags. New for the 2005 Accent GLS Hatchback are ABS brakes.
Other than the extra cargo room and rear window wiper, the hatchback is the same as sedan in terms of standard features -- which means, there are none. Power steering, a tachometer, defroster, tape player, and a front console are all you get. But the price is right and the 29/33 fuel economy means less visits to the gas station. Options include air conditioning, power features, and a CD player. A good starter car or first-time car, say owners, due to its affordability and fuel savings. Negatives include limited rear legroom, low ground clearance, and lack of standard features. Acceleration is noisy, as it is with most compacts.
