2005 Chrysler 300 Limited AWD Summary
The first offering of the Chrysler 300 was also available in a Limited trim. Some of the finer exterior and interior details were retouched to provide this upscale version with a more elegant look. The 300 Limited also upgraded the engine and transmission, and was offered with both AWD and RWD.
The base model's 2.7 liter engine was set aside in favor of a 3.5 liter V-6, providing 60 additional horses and bringing the count up to 250. Engine torque saw the same increase, rising from 190 to 250 pound-feet. The 0 to 60 acceleration dipped below 10 seconds, but performance improvements were really marginal due to the added weight of a larger engine and AWD. This 300 bulks up to over 4000 pounds. A 5-speed automatic transmission was also added. The AWD Limited's gas mileage was rated at 18/24 mpg.
The AWD offered additional security and the 300's handling and ride quality also received a boost thanks to a retuned suspension system. The six cylinder 300s did not exactly jump off the line, but the power supply seemed adequate through the higher speed range. Owners continued to report reliability issues, claiming several service trips within the first few months of ownership. Buyers of this Limited series also endured a recall due to radiator issues, and many were nagged by frequent rattles, leaks, and mechanical failures.
