2010 BMW 528xi

The 2010 BMW 528xi comes equipped with the automaker's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which distributes the majority of torque to the rear wheels under normal driving situations. However, in slick road conditions or when it detects wheel slippage, the system sends power to the wheel or wheels with the best grip within milliseconds, and continues to shift torque to ensure optimal traction and handling in all types of road conditions. A 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine drives the 528xi. The engine produces 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, and links to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, which owners can add at no extra cost. The three-mode automatic transmission includes a manual-shift feature. This powerplant posts fuel economy numbers of 18/28 mpg with the manual shifter and 18/27 with the automatic. Standard performance- and safety-related features include Dynamic Traction Control, four-wheel antilock brakes with Dynamic Brake Control, and Dynamic Stability Control with brake-fade compensation.

Inside, standard features for the 2010 528xi include 10-way power-adjustable front seats with memory, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power glass moonroof, Bluetooth, and a start/stop button. BMW updated the 528xi's iDrive turn-and-push vehicle control dial, which drivers can use to manage the climate control, audio, communications, and optional navigation systems. A 10-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player and an MP3 input jack keeps passengers entertained. Leatherette upholstery comes standard, though owners can add Dakota leather seating as an option. Outside, standard features include halogen headlights and foglights, heated side mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers. The 2010 528i rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
