2009 Chevrolet Avalanche LS

A 5.3-liter V8 engine, generating 310 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque, powers the rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Avalanche LS for 2009. The V8 links to a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission with a tow/haul mode and a tap-up/tap-down feature, so drivers can shift manually. The Avalanche LS cruises on a Premium Ride Suspension and 17-inch wheels, and comes equipped with Chevy's StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, which makes small brake applications as necessary during emergency maneuvers to help drivers maintain control of the vehicle.

The Avalanche LS's cabin carries six passengers, and features a Midgate in the cab's rear wall, which folds down to extend the cargo bed to more than 8 feet. Other standard features include a lockable three-piece cargo cover made of a composite material, and lockable storage compartments along the rear bed, which provide plenty of storage space for gear. Inside, features include a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver's seat, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and an audio system with XM satellite radio and an MP3 input jack. In addition, premium cloth seats, a 60/40-split reclining rear bench seat, and updated OnStar 8.0 all come standard, as do driver, passenger, and head-curtain side-impact airbags.
