2009 Volkswagen Beetle S Convertible

Volkswagen equips the 2009 Beetle S Convertible with a number of unique features not found on the base Beetle S hardtop coupe, including an automatic rollover protection system, which consists of two steel beams residing under the back headrests. If the system detects a rollover, it instantly deploys the beams to help minimize passenger injuries. The relatively new, power-operated soft convertible top features a glass rear window with a defrost function to help ensure good visibility out the back. Body-color bumpers, daytime running lights, heated washer nozzles, and heated exterior mirrors come standard outside, while inside the '09 Beetle S Convertible includes such features as heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, dual power outlets, and a 10-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player, Sirius satellite radio, and an MP3 input jack. Remote keyless entry also comes standard. In addition, the Beetle S Convertible includes an automatic locking feature, which locks doors when the vehicle reaches 8 mph to ensure passenger safety. The doors unlock automatically if the airbags deploy.

A 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine generating 150 hp and 170 lb-ft torque drives the '09 Beetle S Convertible. The engine links to a six-speed automatic transmission with the Tiptronic manual shift feature and a Sport mode. The engine posts fuel economy numbers of 20/28 mpg. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering helps ensure good handling. Standard safety- and performance-related features include antilock brakes with brake assist and an electronic stabilization program. In addition, an anti-slip regulation system helps improve traction at all speeds. The '09 VW Beetle S Convertible rides on 16-inch alloy wheels or optional 17-inch wheels.
