Preview of 2009 Ford Taurus SE
A 3.5-liter Duratec V6 is the sole engine across the Taurus trim lineup, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Traction control keeps the 17-inch alloys from spinning on the front-wheel-drive SE trim, and four-wheel, antilock disc brakes will bring them to a stop with the help of brake assist and an anti-skid system. The AM/FM/CD/MP3 player has a digital media connection and can be controlled via the leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel. Mirrors, windows, and door locks are all power, and for extra convenience, remote keyless and keypad entry are both included. The front cloth bucket seats are both powered - 6-way for the driver and 2-way for the passenger - and separated by a center console. A split-folding seat is found in the rear. For added comfort, cruise control and air conditioning are standard, along with a trip computer and a compass. A tachometer means the revolution will be televised, or at least displayed. Illuminated visor mirrors are a vanity feature, while intermittent front wipers and a rear defogger will keep things clear. Foglights and floormats are also included. For safety, look to a theft-deterrent system, dual front airbags, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags with rollover deployment as well as a tire pressure monitor.
