Checking the 4WD option means you’ll be restricted to the six-speed automatic as your choice to pair with the 2009 Ford Escape XLS's 2.5-liter inline four. It still has 16-inch alloy wheels, along with antilock brakes, anti-skid, a tire pressure monitor, and traction control. Cloth front bucket seats and a split-folding rear provide a comfortable ride, as well as a tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with digital media connection. Power mirrors, windows, and locks come with remote keyless entry, as well as a tachometer, variable-intermittent wipers, a rear wiper and washer with defogger, and a center console. Dual front, front side, and curtain side airbags with rollover deployment handle safety concerns.
