A close-ratio 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capability handles the 252 horsepower that the GXP sedan’s 3.6-liter V6 pumps out. The GXP gets the full treatment for the drivetrain, with traction control and antiskid to make sure tires maintain contact and four-wheel antilock disc brakes to bring its 18-inch wheels to a stop. A sport suspension offers a more aggressive stance and handling, while foglights and a rear spoiler distinguish it from base trims. A heated 6-way power bucket driver’s seat is unique to the trim and complements a passenger bucket and rear split-folding seat. The satellite-ready Monsoon CD/MP3 stereo has integrated radio controls on the tilt and telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a tachometer and center console are at the driver’s disposal. Automatic climate control is at the top of the creature comfort list, along with power windows, doors, and mirrors, remote start and entry, an automatic day/night rearview mirror with built-in compass, variable intermittent wipers, rear defogger, and illuminated visor mirrors.

Safety features are similarly abundant, with automatic headlights, a theft-deterrent system, dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, and daytime running lights.
