Identical to the MAZDA6 i Sport Value Edition, except with a bigger engine and optional 6-speed automatic, the front-wheel drive 2008 Mazda MAZDA6 s Sport Value Edition delivers more power in the form of a 24-valve 3.0-liter, 212-hp DOHC V6 and standard 5-speed. Featuring variable valve timing, it delivers 197 ft-lbs of torque at 5000 RPM and a disappointing 18/25 mpg. Both the sedan and hatch version ride on a double wishbone front and multilink rear suspension.

Upgrades from the Sport trim including a 6-CD changer with MP3 playback, a garage remote, an 8-way power driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a security system. Both sedan and hatch seat four in two rows, with front buckets and a 60/40 split-folding rear bench. Front passengers get 42 inches of legroom, while backseat riders get only 36.5 inches. Cargo space varies from 15.2 cubic feet in the sedan, to anywhere from 22 to 59 cubic feet in the hatch. Accessories, such as a cargo net, tray, and organizer cost extra. Standard equipment includes power windows, locks, and mirrors, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, remote entry, two front power outlets, six cupholders, front intermittent wipers, tilt and telescopic steering, a tachometer, and an exterior temperature gauge.

Traction control is standard, and works alongside 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes (with electronic brakeforce distribution), a rear stabilizer bar, and dual front-side and side curtain airbags to achieve four and five-star crash test ratings. Other safety features include automatic headlights, halogen lamps, and a tire monitor. An extra option when you move up to the Sport Value Edition is remote start. Other safety options add a compass and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Sportier options add a rear wing and rear lip spoiler, chrome trim, and a sunroof. Satellite radio is also available.
