Heated mirrors, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a Bose sound system represent the major upgrades when you move to the 2008 Mazda MAZDA6 i Sport Touring. This front-wheel drive sports sedan and hatchback features a 2.3-liter DOHC I4 engine with 156-hp and 154 ft-lbs of torque at 4000 RPM. A 5-speed adaptive automatic transmission offers manual mode. The MAZDA6 seats four, with split-folding rear seats and a fold-down armrest. The sedan holds 15.2 cubic feet in the trunk, while the hatch starts at 22 and expands to 59 cubic feet with the seats down. There is an option to add a cargo net, tray, and organizer.
Overall, the 2008 MAZDA6 i Sport Touring earns top marks (four and five stars) in crash tests. Traction control is standard, but stability control is not offered. 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes feature electronic brakeforce distribution. The dual-stage dual front-side airbags have crash sensors and passenger deactivation. Side curtain airbags for both rows are standard. A tire monitor measures pressure in the 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. Automatic headlights, halogen lamps, and daytime running lights round out the safety profile. An auto-dimming rearview mirror can be added.
Along with the upgrades, the MAZDA6 i Touring offers a full power setup, including an 8-way driver's seat, remote entry, a garage remote, and wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls for the 7-speaker sound system. The 6-CD is MP3-compatible. Tilt and telescopic steering, intermittent front wipers, a tachometer and temperature gauge, leather trim on the steering wheel and shifter, two front power outlets, and six cupholders, along with several storage consoles provide added convenience. Options are similar to the Value Edition and include a sunroof, satellite radio, remote start, extra chrome trim, and a rear lip and rear wing spoiler.
