2008 Land Rover LR3 HSE
Much of what is optional on the SE is standard on the 2008 Land Rover LR3 HSE. This mid-sized SUV features full-time AWD with high and low-range gearing for optimal off-roading. Helping that performance is an adjustable air suspension and the selectable Terrain Response System (General, Grass and Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock). Also on hand are a locking center differential, an optional rear locking differential, a front and rear double wishbone suspension, and a 300-hp, 4.4-liter DOHC V8 with variable valve timing. Paired with a 6-speed shiftable automatic, this powertrain rates a measly 12/17 mpg.
Building up on the features in the SE, the 2008 LR3 HSE adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, memory settings for the mirrors and three drivers, a navigation system, Bluetooth, and walnut wood trim on the interior. The sound system boosts up to a 14-speaker Harmon Kardon with surround sound. Safety-wise, the HSE gets an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights with HID xenon lamps, and both front and rear parking sensors.
Already standard are 8-way power front seats (the passenger seat is new this year), leather upholstery, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, a sunroof, heated mirrors, full power features, remote entry, intermittent front wipers, a rear wiper, trip computer, garage remote and a security system. A compass and temperature display provide more driver information. Dual-zone climate control and rear audio controls are passenger-oriented. A 6-CD player features MP3 playback and a separate audio input jack. Second and third rows split-fold and fold flat into the floor to expand the 9.9 cubic foot trunk to 90 cubic feet. Tie-downs, storage compartments, and a roof rack offer more versatility.
Though the 2008 LR3 HSE is not yet rated for safety, it provides well for the family. Traction and stability control, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, Hill Descent Control, and dual front-side and side curtain airbags for all three rows are standard. Also on hand are a tire monitor, rain-sensing wipers, foglights, and headlight washers. Heated seats and washer fluid are available, along with satellite radio and adaptive headlights.
This overview covers this specific trim only. You can read more on our 2008 Land Rover LR3 page.
