2008 Nissan Frontier SE King Cab Summary
The Nissan Frontier is a class leader in the compact pickup truck category, and the SE is its mid-level trim line.
The SE King Cab seats four with its two rear jump seats. Reviewers, although satisfied with the front seats, felt the King Cab's jump seats were not really fit for the human bum or adult-length legs. The King Cab comes with the long truck bed, which measures 73.3 inches.
The base SE engine is a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve, four-cylinder engine rated at 152 hp and 171 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission is available only in a rear-wheel-drive configuration. Reviewers were underwhelmed by the performance and, except for fuel economy reasons, recommended the V6-equipped trim lines. The EPA rates the four-cylinder version with the manual at 19/23, and the automatic rates 17/22 mpg.
The SE trim line adds 16-inch steel wheels, a chrome front bumper, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD audio system, tilt steering column, sliding rear window, and rear privacy glass over the standard base XE features.
The SE King Cab with rear-wheel-drive and the four-cylinder engine with the manual transmission can carry 970 pounds, and with the automatic it can carry 964 pounds. Its maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.
