The 2008 Suzuki XL-7 Premium can be configured in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The automatic on-demand AWD defaults to the front wheels, but can split torque 50/50 depending on road conditions. It is not meant for serious off-roading. The Premium comes standard with two rows of seating for five passengers, but can be equipped with a third-row bench to seat seven. The second row folds and tumbles, and the third-row bench splits 50/50 and folds flat. The front passenger seat also folds flat to accommodate long items. With the third row, the cargo area shrinks to 14 cubic feet (from 49 with two rows), but with all rows down it holds 95 cubic feet. This isn't as much as some competitors, but decent for a midsize SUV. A roof rack is standard.
A 3.6-liter, 252-hp DOHC V6 and shiftable five-speed automatic power the 2008 XL-7 Premium. This trim upgrades to 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires and adds a self-leveling suspension. Daytime running lights join the safety features, which include automatic headlights, a tire monitor, traction and stability control, four-wheel disc and ABS brakes, rollover sensors, and dual front and side curtain airbags for all rows. A 100,000-mile/7-year warranty is one of the more attractive features of this SUV. Rear climate control and wood interior accents join a full power setup, remote entry, a six-speaker CD player with MP3 input, cruise control, intermittent wipers, a rear window wiper, a security system, and compass and temperature display as part of the Premium's standard equipment. Power outlets are scattered throughout, including in the cargo area. There are no factory options, but you can install Bluetooth through the dealer.
