Drivers who require additional cargo space, as well as extra room in the cab, can opt for the 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT2 Extended Cab with the Long Box (LB), which offers just over 70 cubic feet of space in the rear cargo bed. By comparison, the Standard Box offers about 57 cubic feet of space.

The 1500 LT2 Extended Cab LB can seat up to five passengers in its four-door cab, which includes front bucket seats with six-way power adjustments, as well as a flip-up rear bench seat. A center console between the front seats provides 20 liters of storage space.

Standard features for the two-wheel-drive 1500 LT2 Extended Cab LB include steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, halogen foglights, OnStar, and an AM/FM audio system with a CD player and MP3 input jack. Antilock brakes and 17-inch custom aluminum wheels also come standard. Options include Custom Leather seats, a sunroof, a power sliding rear window, and a DVD entertainment system.

A 315-horsepower, 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine with Active Fuel Management powers the 1500 LT2. To help conserve fuel, the Active Fuel Management system deactivates four of the engine's eight cylinders when extra power is not required, such as at cruising speeds.

The engine links to a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with a Tow/Haul mode, which enhances performance when pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads.
