A 140-hp, 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine is matched to a 5-speed automatic transmission in the front-wheel drive 2008 Honda Civic Coupe DX Auto. The base model is pretty basic, but still earns five stars and top ratings in all crash tests, thanks to 4-wheel ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, 15-inch wheels with all-season tires, daytime running lights, a tire monitor, and dual front-side and side curtain airbags. Front head restraints and passenger airbag deactivation are also standard. You can add more gadgets with optional foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The 2008 Civic Coupe DX Auto comes with power windows and mirrors, front power outlets, intermittent wipers, a tachometer, and tilt and telescopic steering. The 12-cubic-foot trunk features tiedowns and can be outfitted with a net and organizer. If you really need comforts such as air conditioning and a CD player, you'll have to pay more. Leather trim is also available. Drivers like the affordable price and high (26/34 mpg) mileage, but do complain about excessive road noise.
