[Edit] A longer 8-foot bed is the only difference between the 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 ST LB and the short-bed ST. Available only in the two-door Regular Cab setup, the pickup comes standard with rear-wheel drive, though 4-wheel drive that can be taken off-road is optional. The 3.7-liter, 215-hp V6 is paired with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. Both the new 310-hp 4.7-liter V8 and the 5.7-liter, 345-hp HEMI V8 are optional as well. The platform consists of a front independent, rear live axle, and short- and long-arm front suspension, and as a utility vehicle, the 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 ST LB uses 17-inch steel wheels and all-season tires. Black side-wall tires are optional, as are all-terrain tires.
Five-star front impact ratings are earned by standard 4-wheel disc and rear ABS brakes, dual front airbags, passenger airbag deactivation, a tire monitor, and side impact door beam. Electronic stability control, side curtain airbags, daytime running lights, a limited-slip rear differential, and 4-wheel ABS can be added. While the engine only rates 16/21 mpg, the 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 ST LB can tow around 8,900 pounds. Standard features include power mirrors, a CD player with 4 speakers, a tachometer, air conditioning, front cupholders and power outlets, a cargo light, and intermittent wipers. The bed can be equipped with an optional bedliner and sliding rear window. Other options upgrade the ST to SXT level, with different engines, full power features, heated mirrors, and remote entry. Also available are satellite radio, a tow package, folding mirrors, and tubular chrome side rails.
