[Edit] The short-bed base model of this muscular work truck, the 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 ST features a 6.3-foot bed, two doors, and one bench seat that fits three. Used for work more than play, the 1500 ST comes in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive with low-range gearing. A 3.7-liter, 215-hp V6 delivers 235 ft-lbs of torque and is matched to either a 6-speed manual or optional 5-speed automatic. The pickup rides on 17-inch steel wheels with all-season tires and comes standard with 4-wheel disc and rear ABS brakes, dual front airbags, passenger airbag deactivation, a tire monitor, and a side impact door beam. The 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 ST rests on a live rear axle, front independent, and short- and long-arm front suspension.
Standard equipment is decent for a base model pickup. Power mirrors, power steering, air conditioning, a 4-speaker CD player, intermittent wipers, a tachometer, and a rear cargo light are all included. A bedliner and sliding rear window cost extra. The front bench splits 40/20/40 to accommodate different types of cargo. Front cupholders and front power outlets offer further convenience. Options deck out the ST in SXT form, with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8, remote entry, full power features, and remote entry. Also available are the 4.7 V8 (regular and flex fuel), 4-wheel ABS, stability control, black side-wall tires, side curtain airbags, satellite radio, and a tow package that includes folding side mirrors.
