[Edit] The 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 SLT comes in either Regular Cab (two doors, one row of seating) or Quad Cab (four doors and two rows), rear-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive with low-range gearing. The standard engine is a revamped 4.7-liter V8 that now gets 310 hp. A 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic are the transmission choices. Optional engines are an E85 version of the 4.7 or the powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which delivers 345 hp.
Upgrading from the SXT, the 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 SLT gets 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires (all-terrain cost extra in an off-road package). Other standard safety features include automatic headlights with halogen lamps, 4-wheel disc and rear-wheel ABS brakes, dual front and knee airbags, a side impact door beam, and a tire monitor. Paying extra gets you side curtain airbags, electronic stability with new sway control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a limited-slip rear differential, 20-inch wheels, and foglights. Inside, the SLT adds a standard trip computer, a compass and temperature display, and a free trial of satellite radio. Also included is a sliding rear window. Full power features, remote entry, cruise control, a 4-speaker CD player, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, and three front power outlets are all part of the mix.
The front row split-folds 40/20/40, and the back row folds 60/40. The 6.3-foot bed comes with a rear step bumper to improve access. Options for the cargo bed include tie-downs, a hard cover, tow hooks, a bedliner, a net, and side rails. More options are available for the 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 SLT, such as leather upholstery, a 6-way power driver's seat, and power adjustable pedals. A 6-CD changer, Bluetooth, a navigation system, remote start, folding mirrors, and a tow package are also available.
