[Edit] The 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Laramie Mega Cab 4X4 features part-time four-wheel drive with low-range gearing for off-road capability and a solid live-axle front and rear suspension. The extra weight means its towing capacity is only 8,300 pounds, but it does offer more assurance in both on- and off-road situations. A TRX off-road package adds all-terrain tires and skid plates. A formidable 5.7-liter, 345-hp HEMI V8 and 5-speed automatic drive this half-ton pickup. It sits on 17-inch chrome alloy wheels and all-season tires, with 20-inch wheels available. A limited-slip rear differential can also be added.
Upgrading from the SXT Mega Cab, the 2008 Ram Pickup 1500 Laramie adds foglights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror to a package that includes 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags, automatic headlights, halogen lamps, and a tire monitor. Side curtain airbags and an electronic stability program with sway control are available. The Mega Cab features over 40 inches of legroom for front and rear passengers and a 6.3-foot cargo bed. Both rows split-fold and have cupholders. A front armrest doubles as storage. Options for the cargo bed include tie-downs, tow hooks, side rails, a bedliner, hard cover, net, and bed extender. A rear step bumper eases access.
Although engine power reigns supreme with owners, the interior's luxury is far from shabby. 6-way power front seats, leather upholstery, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls for the 6-CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth, a compass, and dual-zone climate control are all upgrades. Other features include a full power setup, heated mirrors, a sliding rear window, cruise control, intermittent wipers, a security system, and a trip computer. Power-adjustable pedals are optional, and you can also add a navigation system, DVD player, and sunroof. Tubular side steps and body-side molding are part of a MOPAR package.
