Unchanged from last year, the 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander LS sits in the middle of the lineup for this front-wheel-drive compact SUV. Equipped with three rows of seats instead of two, the 2008 Outlander LS seats seven, with both rows and the front passenger seat folding flat for up to 73 cubic feet of storage. The second row also reclines and comes with a fold-down armrest. The LS adds a standard roof rack for more cargo capacity. Tie-downs are included, and a cover can be added. The LS also adds leather accents for the steering wheel and shifter, remote start, and wheel-mounted audio controls for the in-dash CD player with MP3 input jack.
Another upgrade is the 3.0-liter, 220-hp V6 with variable valve timing. Matched only with a 6-speed shiftable automatic, it reduces fuel economy significantly to 17/25 mpg. Traction and stability control, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front-side and side curtain airbags, a tire monitor, daytime running lights, skid plates, and 16-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires comprise the safety features. Foglights are extra. Inside the 2008 Outlander LS, you get full power features, remote entry, intermittent front and rear wipers, cruise control, a trip computer, and a tilt steering wheel. A DVD player with remote control, hard disk drive (part of the multi-communication system), Bluetooth, a navigation system, satellite radio, and a 6-CD changer are all options. Others include body-colored moldings, mudguards, and a tow package.
