2008 Jeep Wrangler 4 Dr Unlimited Sahara

The most luxurious of Jeep's 2008 Wrangler trims, the Unlimited Sahara, distinguishes itself with its 20 extra inches of length (173 inches overall), extra towing power (3,500 pounds, with the optional package), and the fact that it's rear-wheel instead of four-wheel drive. Still, equipped with a solid live axle front and rear suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, skid plates, and ten inches of ground clearance, it performs admirably on tough roads. Frontal impact scores rate five stars, thanks to 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, traction and stability control, 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, and dual front-side airbags. Foglights and a tire monitor are also included. The power source is a 3.8-liter, 202-hp V6 that's a bit sluggish on acceleration. It is matched with a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed automatic.

Its extra 20 inches of length mean the 2008 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara has four doors instead of two, all still removable. The windshield folds out, and the standard Sunrider soft top with sunroof can also be removed. A hard top is an option. The plastic rear window views a cargo space that expands to 85 cubic feet with the rear seats down. Tie-downs are standard, and drain holes in the floor help accommodate difficult weather and terrain as well as cleaning.

Expanding on the regular Sahara, the 2008 Unlimited adds standard power windows and locks, remote entry, and a security system. These are in addition to a CD/MP3 player with MP3 jack, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, temperature and compass display, satellite radio, and cruise control. Various option packages or stand-alones add a navigation system with a MyGIG audio system, a 6-CD changer with a hard disk drive, and a rear window wiper.
