The Sport not only offers a couple of additional standard features, including a leather-trimmed steering wheel and air conditioning, but also allows many new choices in the way of optional equipment. A Convenience Package adds keyless entry, foglamps, steering-wheel audio controls, one-touch windows, and cruise control.

Like the SV, the Sport uses a five-speed manual transmission, and the six-speed automatic is not available on this trim. The Sport may be fitted with Mazda's powered retractable hardtop.
