[Edit] PreRunners are rear-wheel-drive 4x2 trucks with the aggressive good looks of a durable 4x4. The PreRunner is a more-expensive option than the regular 4x2 trucks, and it is available on all three cab sizes. All Double Cabs come standard with air conditioning, CD player, rear cup holders, power windows, and two 12-volt power outlets. Buyers may choose between a 60- and a 73-inch bed. TRD Sport and the V6 towing option packages are also available on this model.
Double Cab Tacomas are available only with the V6. This 4.0-liter V6 debuted in 2006, offering 236 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. EPA mixed driving estimates are in the high teens.
