The V8 Sport is the top-tier XC90, coming equipped with a special appearance and performance package. The Sport is differentiated by a special exterior trim presentation, a firmer suspension system, larger 19-inch wheels, blue metallic gauges, and a  three-spoke steering wheel. The Sport also comes equipped with a more-responsive steering system and extra side bolstering for the front seats. All of the mid-level V8's features are also standard here.

The Sport also houses the 4.4-liter V8, making 311 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The V8 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Volvo's AWD system comes standard, and towing capacity is estimated at 5,000 pounds. The Sport is the quickest of the XCs, speeding from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds.
