Offering plenty of interior space for families, a wide range of safety features, and capable handling and power, as well as decent fuel economy, the Saab 9-5 SportCombi 2.3T wagon remains essentially unchanged for 2008, although it does come with a few new standard features, including a tire pressure monitoring system, OnStar, and leather-appointed sport seats.

Thanks to its aerodynamic headlights, wraparound windshield, and clean, simple lines, the SportCombi 2.3T's exterior design doesn't seem dated, even though it borrows most of its design elements from the 9-5 sedan, which hasn't been updated since its introduction in the late 1990s.  Front fog lamps and side-mounted direction-indicator lights, which help improve the wagon's visibility on the road, are among the SportCombi's other exterior features.

Inside, the 9-5 SportCombi 2.3T comes equipped with such features as a power moonroof, heated front seats, dark walnut trim, a leather-trimmed sport steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 200-watt Harmon-Kardon audio system with a six-disc in-dash CD player and XM satellite radio.

A 260-horsepower, 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine drives the SportCombi 2.3T. The engine links to either a five-speed manual shifter or an optional five-speed Sentronic automatic transmission.

Safety features include active head restraints, a full range of air bags, and traction and stability control. In addition, the 9-5 has done very well in government crash testing in past years.
