Extra off-roading power comes with the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT1 4WD, that boosts its full-time 4WD with, low-range gearing, a locking center differential, and automatic locking hubs. It also makes good use of its 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires and standard 4.2-liter, 285-hp DOHC I6 that delivers 276 lb-ft of torque with a 4-speed HydraMatic auto tran. A 300-hp 5.3-liter V8 with valve displacement (saves fuel economy) is available. The SUV seats five in two rows, with folding rear seats to expand the cargo room from 41 to 80 cubic feet. The cargo area comes with tie-downs, and a trailer hitch is also standard for towing around 6600 pounds. A roof rack adds more capacity. The rear window includes an intermittent wiper and opens separately from the liftgate.
New for the 2008 Trailblazer LT1 4WD are side curtain airbags. These join dual front airbags, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, a tire monitor, traction and stability control, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, and foglights. Though the LT1 is the base, it does have an 8-way power driver's seat, full power features, remote entry, a CD player, dual-zone climate control, OnStar, and a brand new satellite radio feature. Front and rear cupholders, storage consoles, and seatback pockets are the norm now. Add-ons include an off-road package with skid plates, a sunroof, and upgraded audio system.
