The rear-wheel drive 2008 Chevy Trailblazer LT1 is the base model of the mid-size SUV that seats five in two rows. Standard engine is a 285-hp, 4.2-liter DOHC I6 that gets 296 lb-ft of torque and is matched to a 4-speed Hydramatic. A 5.3-liter Vortec V8 that delivers 300-hp is available as an option. With 7.8 inches of ground clearance, the 2008 Trailblazer LT1 rides on a truck suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, with standard electronic brakeforce distribution, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, traction and stability control, a tire monitor, skid plates, and dual front and side curtain airbags with passenger deactivation. Also included are dusk-sensing headlights, foglights, and daytime running lights.
The LT1 is nicely oriented to families, with full power features, cruise control, two front power outlets, and front and rear cupholders. Also standard are intermittent front and rear wipers, cruise control, OnStar, a new satellite radio, CD player, 8-way power driver's seat, remote entry, a security system, and dual-zone climate control. The rear seats split-fold 60/40, expanding the cargo bay, which features tie-downs, from 41 to 80 cubic feet. The liftgate opens independently of the rear window, and a roof rack and trailer hitch are standard. Options include a sunroof, an off-roading package with locking differential, and side step rails.
