2008 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ Summary

New for 2008, the Chevrolet Equinox LTZ offers a number of upscale features, including heated front seats, leather inserts in the front and rear seats, side-impact airbags, and a premium seven-speaker Pioneer audio system with an in-dash six-disc CD changer and XM satellite radio. Other standard features for the Equinox LTZ include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, OnStar, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Options include a power sunroof, a touch-screen navigation system, and a DVD entertainment system.

A 185-horsepower, 3.4-liter V6 engine powers the Equinox LTZ. The engine links to a five-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth shifting and acceleration as well as improved fuel efficiency. Four-wheel antilock brakes and the StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System also come standard on the Equinox LTZ, helping to ensure good handling and stability in all types of driving conditions.

The Equinox LTZ provides good acceleration, responsive handing, and a smooth ride, even over rough road surfaces, according to drivers and reviewers. As in many vehicles of this type, however, some drivers have noted a certain amount of body sway under hard cornering. Overall, quality and reliablity ratings are about average or slightly above average for a vehicle in this class.
