For families who need extra space, Chevrolet adds 13 inches to the overall length of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander LS Ext (for extended wheelbase), compared to the standard LS. This results in an extra inch and a half of legroom for second-row passengers, an extra two inches for third-row passengers, and an extra 16 cubic feet in overall cargo space. The extended version also comes with a larger fuel tank (25 gallons, as opposed to 20 gallons for the standard LS), and a curb weight that's about 120 pounds heavier.

Other than that, the LS Ext matches the standard LS in mechanics, power, and standard features. A soft-ride suspension, rack-and-pinion power steering, and four-wheel antilock disc brakes are all standard, though some drivers have reported having braking problems with the vehicle. Power for the front-wheel-drive Uplander LS Ext comes in the form of a 240-horsepower, 3.9-liter V6 engine, which links to a four-speed, electronically controlled automatic transmission. Air conditioning, power windows, dual-stage front airbags, and OnStar are all standard, but side-impact airbags, cruise control, and remote keyless entry must be added as options. Some entertainment options, such as a CD changer and a DVD player, are not available as options on the LS Ext trim.
