2008 Ford Expedition EL Limited 4WD

The 2008 Ford Expedition EL Limited 4WD offers drivers a long list of functional and upscale features. For starters, the full-size SUV comes equipped with Ford's ControlTrac 4X4 System, which gives drivers the capability to control the 4X4 system by turning a rotary knob to select high or low four-wheel-drive mode, 4X4 Auto (which transfers power to the appropriate wheels), or two-wheel-drive mode.

The Expedition's EL Limited 4WD's overall length has been stretched by nearly 15 inches, resulting in 24 more cubic feet of cargo space, when compared to the standard Limited model. A rear cargo organizer, part of the standard equipment package, helps drivers keep all their extra cargo neat and in place, according to Ford.

Inside, the Expedition EL Limited 4WD comes equipped with a number of luxury-oriented features, including a wood-tone, leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-trimmed, 10-way power adjustable front captain's chairs. The front seats feature power lumbar and a reclining function, and are heated and cooled with three levels of comfort settings, which adds to the SUV's luxurious feel.

Also included with the Expedition Limited EL 4WD's list of standard features is a Convenience Package, which adds power-adjustable pedals, power rear quarter windows, a universal garage door opener, and a reverse sensing system. A luggage rack, running boards, and heated power folding mirrors, as well as an Audiophile six-speaker AM/FM sound system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer and an MP3 input jack, round out the upscale features.

A 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V8 engine drives the Expedition Limited, though gas mileage suffers due to the engine size. The engine links to a smooth-shifting six-speed overdrive transmission. AdvanceTrac traction control with Roll Stability Control (RSC), a Safety Canopy system with side airbags (including third-row side airbags), and a tire pressure monitoring system are also part of the Limited EL 4WD package.
