2008 Ford Explorer XLT V8 Summary
The 2008 Explorer XLT V8 pumps up the power with a
292-horsepower, 4.6-liter V8 with variable cam timing. The V8 engine links to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Explorer XLT V8 comes well-equipped with a number of valuable safety features, including an AdvanceTrac traction control system with Roll Stability Control (RSC); a Safety Canopy system, which includes side airbags; and an Intelligent Safety System, which makes adjustments to the airbags, seatbelts, and steering column in an emergency situation.
The Explorer XLT V8 also comes equipped with such standard features as a tire pressure monitoring system, front low-back bucket seats with two-way adjustable head restraints, power windows and door locks, a keyless entry system, air conditioning, and an MP3 input jack for the AM/FM/CD sound system.
In addition, the 2008 Explorer XLT 4WD includes a new capless fuel filling system (available late in the model year), which opens and closes automatically when drivers insert or extract a fuel pump nozzle. The new capless system provides a tighter seal than a typical gas cap, according to Ford.
A maintenance-free battery, Class II towing hitch, and 16-inch aluminum wheels are also included in the 2008 Explorer XLT V8 package.
