2008 Ford Explorer XLT Summary
As the entry-level Explorer available for 2008, the XLT comes with a limited list of standard features, but still includes AdvanceTrac traction control with Roll Stability Control (RSC), Ford's Safety Canopy system with side airbags, an MP3 input jack for the AM/FM/CD sound system, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Other standard features include ffront low-back cloth bucket seats, power windows and door locks, a keyless entry system, Ice Blue dash lighting, and air conditioning.
The Explorer XLT also includes a new capless fuel filling system (available late in the model year), which opens and closes automatically when drivers insert or extract a fuel pump nozzle. The new capless system provides a tighter seal than a typical gas cap, according to Ford.
Power for the 2008 Explorer XLT comes in the form of a 210-horsepower, 4.0-liter, single-overhead-cam V6 engine, which links to a five-speed overdrive automatic transmission. A maintenance-free battery, Class II towing hitch, and 16-inch aluminum wheels are also included in the XLT V6 package.
