The Ford Explorer Limited 4WD comes well-equipped for 2008 with such high-end features as heated front leather-trimmed bucket seats with power adjustment, a 50/50 split third-row bench seat, dual-zone electronic air conditioning, power-adjustable pedals with memory, and heated power exterior mirrors.

As its name suggestions, the Limited 4WD also comes equipped with Ford's ControlTrac 4X4 System. With the ControlTrac system, drivers can turn a rotary knob to select high or low four-wheel-drive mode, 4X4 Auto (which transfers power to the appropriate wheels), or two-wheel-drive mode.

Other features for the 2008 Explorer Limited include a premium 290-watt Audiophile sound system with a six-disc in-dash CD changer, and a Convenience Group package, which includes automatic headlights, a keyless entry keypad, and a message center compass.

A few minor exterior features distinguish the Limited from the other models in the Explorer stable, including steps bars with chrome accents and chrome roof side rails. The Limited also runs on bigger 18-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels.

A 210-horsepower, 4.0-liter, single-overhead-cam V6 engine powers the 2008 Explorer Limited. The engine links to a five-speed overdrive automatic transmission. An AdvanceTrac traction control system with Roll Stability Control (RSC) and a new capless fuel filling system (available late in the model year) are also part of the Limited package.
