2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 4WD Summary
The 2008 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 4WD combines the distinctive Eddie Bauer styling package with the performance provided by a 292-horsepower V8 engine and the capable handling that results from Ford's ControlTrac 4X4 System. With the ControlTrac system, drivers can turn a rotary knob to select high or low four-wheel-drive mode, 4X4 Auto (which transfers power to the appropriate wheels), or two-wheel-drive mode.
Special exterior features for the Eddie Bauer V8 4WD include Pueblo Gold front and rear bumpers, a three-bar chrome grille, and Pueblo Gold trim and wheel-lip moldings, as well as power exterior mirrors.
Inside, the Eddie Bauer package adds special front-row leather-trimmed, low-backed sport bucket seats, which are equipped with power lumbar and recline. The driver's seat adds 10-way power adjustment.
The Eddie Bauer V8 4WD also comes equipped with a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a message center, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an MP3 input jack for the AM/FM/CD sound system. An AdvanceTrac traction control with Roll Stability Control (RSC), a Safety Canopy system with side airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system are also part of the package.
Like all 2008 Explorer models, the Eddie Bauer V8 4WD comes outfitted with a new capless fuel filling system (available late in the model year), which opens and closes automatically when drivers insert or extract a fuel pump nozzle. The new capless system provides a tighter seal than a typical gas cap, according to Ford.
